Situated near the French Italian and Swiss frontiers, the Grand Combin (4313 m) shows a tremendous wall on the South and the first big Swiss glaciers on the North. It is one of the most noticeable view points in the center of the alps.

Day 1: The start is Bourg Saint Pierre near under the Saint Bernard Pass in Swiss. From there we climb to the Valsorey refuge at 3030 m. Day 2: Above it, the Meitin pass is the beginning of the ridge which is often the less dangerous routes to the summit. The climb is mainly easy but one pitch is graded IV to the "Combin de Valsorey". Next is a very snow crest towards the "Combin de Grafeneiren" at 4314 m. If the conditions allows it, we will descent by the North face going through seracs to reach the Meitin pass. You should have already done few PD or AD rock and snow routes, and practice a little rock climbing. This route requires a very good shape and a little acclimatization. |
