Mont Rose tour in the Swiss Valais country.
The Mont Rose tour allows to discover the "4000s" of Zermatt. That sequence of summits among the highest in the Alps in the Swiss Valais, will throw you in the high mountain country.
That tour usually begins from Zermatt but can also begins from Cervinia in Italie.
A typical schedule (6 days):
- Day 1 - depart from Zermatt – 1600 m. Cable car until Trockener steg – 2950 m then by the Theodulgletscher we will reach the Cervinia refuge at Testa Grigia – 3480 m (ascent 500 m ; 2 h of walk)
- Day 2 - Testa Grigia to Ayas refuge – 3450 m passing by the Breithorn summit– 4164 m (ascent 700m ; 5 to 6 h)
- Day 3 - Castor traverse - 4228 m : a very beautiful snow route with the exposed ridge of the picture here above. Night at Quintino Sella refuge -3585 m. (ascent 800 m ; 6 à 7 h)
- Day 4 - Lyskamm nose-4100 m, and the Pyramide Vincent-4246 m, we will reach the cosy Gnifetti or Montova refuges – 3500 m. (ascent 670m ; 6 à 7 h )
- Day 5 - By the Parrot crest we will reach the first Mont Rose summit - Margherita 4554 m, where we will sleep in the highest alps refuge. (ascent 1100 m ; 6 à 7 h )
- Day 6 - Ascent of the Zumsteinspitz -4563 m- an other Mont Rose summit with such a view point... , and the long descent to Zermatt with the Cervin view (see the picture here under).
That program is very modular : 2 days with the superb Liskamm traverse, 3 /4 days with the traverse Zumstein - Dufour (4634m), etc ...
The usual traverses can be done with a group from 2 to 6 persons. With less participants it will be possible to climb more technical routes as the Lyskamm traverse or the Dufour summit.
My price is 300 € per day for the 6 days tour.
